SHADOWS OF YESTERDAY
Who were they
Where did they go
Those lives and loves of yesterday
That mingled so much in mine.
My youthful friends,
My comrades in a bitter time?
Lost now in the shadows of yesterday.
Their lives gray and twisted,
Their dreams carelessly spent,
Parading around the money tree
A tribe of blind lemmings
Awaiting the call of the sea.
