If we observe what a Jewish tithe was and compare it to what many toss into the collection plate these days, we can see that what we are giving can’t even be called a tithe because it doesn't qualify. The New Testament term, what we give, is properly called a collection.
Genesis 28:22
And this stone, which I have set for a pillar,
shall be God's house: and of all that thou
