This word is made to serve all manner of ideas, some of them directly opposed to one another. Fancy, thought, hallucination, suspicion: indeed, so wide is its use and so varied its meanings, the word imagination has no status nor fixed significance.

In pursuit of a quality education, he came to the United States at the age of 18 to study drama boarding the S.S. Vasari. It was around this time that he met his first wife with whom he fathered a son named Joseph Neville Goddard. It was during a dancing tour in England that he had an encounter with a Scottish man who introduced him to study materials in the field of metaphysics. Grasping such an intellectual content on the power of the mind, his attention was integrally taken from entertainment and was diverted to discourses of mysticism and spirituality.
