There is a bit of hope today
In accordance to your grace
As part of your ways.
I’m not so eager to give up my bed.
I’d much rather live in comfort
Then to witness the dread.
I’d much prefer to hide my face
From hunger and from lack.
You are a strong and mighty fortress
You are the armor on my back.
I’m a lowly soul
Not much left of anything
At least to the world outside.
You embrace me when others turn away
You hold my heart
When others defeat my spirit.
I am laden by guilt.
I am plagued by fear.
My pitiful existence,
My soul swims with tears.
