Creature of habit
Tarnished and stoned.
I now live rather peacefully
My animosity has been overthrown.
I gave up my charms and all my delights.
Notable attachments,
Beautiful remnants,
Things that garnered much attention
Things that brought shame in His sight.
Often our things become part of our souls,
Earning a place up high on our precious throne.
It’s not easy to make sacrifices.
It’s even harder to tear down
A ruptured foundation.
I’m learning to live
And I’m letting go.
These lovely adornments
Obscure true beauty.
