PELICAN
Pelican upon a post
Surveying the smooth blue,
Watching for a school of fish,
Black shadows showing through.
Gracelessly he waddles
Onto the ocean’s surface,
But moves gracefully once launched
And focused on his purpose.
He glides and darts and turns and dives,
Chasing after tailor,
On land a clumsy land-lubber,
