My Friend
A carefully placed card
Played from the deck of fate
No snap in this game
You’re my best mate
Tolerating my faults
My qualities shine through
A diamond in the rough
Precious like you
A shoulder to cry on
Who does not judge
When things go wrong
Not holding a grudge
Helping in times
When others may falter
The testament of loyalty
Kneels at this alter
And so with this verse
We do not end
Just scratching the surface
Of you my friend
