HAUNTED DREAM
I saw you again in my sweaty dream
Played awhile, kissed and loved.
Will anybody listen to what I say?
There was love and no time.
Time swept you away
When we had just begun.
Our needs were sacrificed on blood altars
Our tears offered to a savage god
Who spat at our petition and left us
A leaving without each other
Always to bear the sorrow born
Of impossible love.
Dearest, you are forever gone
And my last gift to you must be
This painful and haunted song.
